Can anyone recommend a good food to feed if your not going to be available for a week.

I need it for a guppy tank and small community (platys, zebras). For my bigger tank I'm going to get an automatic feeder.

If it's only a week I wouldnt worry about it. Make sure the tanks been well fed before leaving and well cleaned as well. From what I've heard of the weekend/vacation feeders they simply dissolve too quickly. I believe callatya tested them once awhile ago .

Babel thanks for your input.

What about my bigger S.A. tank with Angels and a school of cards/rummys. The two angels (larger than silver dollar) have not bothered my school of 15 cardinals. Do you think if I leave for a week the school will be reduced.

I could probably get someone to do one or two feedings.

I'd go with the manual one or two feedings over the automatic feeder. Make sure you give them premeasured ammounts so you don't come back to an overfed tank.

I was just away for about a week, and had someone feed the office tanks twice while I was away. I havent bothered with feeding the home tanks. Everyone was just fine when I got back...then again I have a mix of mostly small fish .

how big are the cardinals?

If they're fully grown, I really don't see your angels going after them. Neons I may worry about, but I've kept that combination before with no worries.

As for feeding? Our tanks have gone 10 days without a feeding when we went on holidays. I don't think you'll have a problem.

If you can get someone to feed your fish at least once, it would be the best bet. Don't use the vacation feeders.

Are your Angels fully grown?.

If you have someone reliable to come feed your fish while you're away, you can put premeasured amounts (as stated above) in those little pill holder deals that has the days on them. That way someone who is taking in your paper or mail can feed the fish while they check your house over

if not, reduce your temperature a few degrees, get an automatic timer for your lights, do a feed and water change before you leave, and have a good vacation !

Thanks again for the advice.

One Angel is about 7 inches fin to fin and the other is about 5 inches.
