Your rasboras will be perfectly fine for a week without food. Or if you're really worried about it, you can have a fmaily member feed the fish or get an automatic feeder. I'm not your neighbor, you Bakersfield trash. |

Rinse the Daphnia in a net, pop it in the aquarium before you leave, and that'll keep them going for some time. Basically, if the fish don't eat all of it first time, the surplus stays alive until they're hungry again. Plus, in the batch there will be at least some females containing eg masses ready to drop, so when they drop, the baby Daphnia will contribute to later feedings. Even though this will only keep them full for a couple of days, the conditioning effect will be such that the Rasboras can live upon whatever edible detritus they find for the rest of the vacation. |

It does pay to have a timer for the light as well. If you are going away for more than three days get some one to check how things are going and get them to feed every second day. BUT make sure they know the amount of food to be used, a small measuring spoon is perfect for feeding when done by someone else also write it all down just in case they forget and over feed. Have a look in [link=My Profile] http://www.fishprofiles.com/forums/member.aspx?id=1935[/link] for my tank info Look here for my Betta 11Gal Desktop & Placidity 5ft Community Tank Photos Keith Near enough is not good enough, therefore good enough is not near enough, and only your best will do. In hardwater they won't break down and you'll still have a rather large chunk when you come back. They make wonderful applesnail food though. Good source of both calcium and food bits. I was using around 1 every other day feeding the 100s of baby applesnails in my tank. If your fish have been well fed up until you leave they should go a week without food without any problems. Occasionally it's good to not feed fish for awhile. Sometimes periods of no or very little food are used to stimulate spawning. |
