Earlier today I had no fish in my tank. The tank had already been cycled, but I've had it set up w/ no fish for almost a month.

Today I added 5 Von Rio Tetras and 1 Otto. I added the fish at around 4:00. It is now almost 7:00. The fish are all so cute and active and seem to be doing just fine....

I did notice, however, that my Tetras do not have the black stripes I've seen on them in pictures...maybe it takes a while for these stripes to show up? Can anyone tell me what the problem might be?...that is, if there is a problem at all.

Thanks!!

Did you notice any stripes on the tetras while they were in the shop? If yes, then the stripes have temporarily vanished due to the stress of transit and the new environment. If not, then the tetras were probably just stressed in the store. Either way, the stripes on your flame tetras should come right back once they get comfortable in your tank. You can help speed the process along by doing extra water changes and by feeding frozen or live treats. Your fish will really respond to such treatment, and should show great coloration within a few weeks.

And when he gets to Heaven, to Saint Peter he will tell: "One more Marine reporting, Sir! I've served my time in Hell."

If you feed them good food & wait till they get used to the new tank, they might get some colour. I always have this problem with Rummynose Tetra's, but in 1/2 days, they'll get their colour.

If you were bagged up and dumped in an unfamiliar place I´d bet you wouldn´t look your best eighter.

Another thing, you say the tank is cycled but has been without fish for a while. I suppose it whas a fishless cycle and you have kept feeding the tank ammonia in some way couse otherways the tank will have "uncycled" again and that would be your problem.

So here I am once more...
