Natural colour gravel & a black or blue background would be quite nice. http://uk.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/s8xi5heh/my_photos http://www.geocities.com/s8xi5heh/classic_blue.html http://groups.yahoo.com/group/buzaqq/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/corydoras/ Member of the Malta Aquarist Society - 1970. http://www.maltaaquarist.com |

The Cories would be an excellent choice stick to the one variety. Substrate natural gravel 2-3mm with a black painted back I also have the sides of mine painted this was for effect and to eliminate outside glare from one side. Have a look in [link=My Profile]http:// www.fishprofiles.com/interactive/forums/profile.asp?userid=6741" style="COLOR: #00FF00[/link] for my tank info [link=Betta 11Gal Desktop & Placidity 5ft Community Tanks]http://photobucket.com/albums/b209/keithgh/Betta%20desktop%20tank/" style="COLOR: #00FF00[/link] More info can be seen at Photo Bucket. It looks really nice, just gotta agitate it every once in a while. Also, I think a dark background would be nice. |

The rummies and black phantoms are great. So is pristella, in my opinion. And hatchetfish, if you're looking for fish that stay toward the top (I keep some with my angel). As far as bottom feeders, a group of cories is definitely cool (panda, julii, sterbai), but I like plecos a bit more. bristlenoses, clowns, king tigers, queen arabesque, leopard frog pleco, etc. Oh, and don't forget about ottos. IME, they are excellent algae eaters. forgot to mention that a solid dark colored background, imo, is best; like black or dark blue. Rasbora in with my angel, they are my fav shoaling fish. i've also got glowlight tetras that shoal really well together. as for bottom feeder, i would have shoal of corys 6+ peppered or sterbi would work. or a bristlnose pleco he would also help keep any algae down. if it's a planted tank go for a black background its shows of the plants and fish really well. gravel could be any colour i perfer the natural river gravel www.blooming-brilliant.co.uk |

(Everyone else was saying cories so I thought I would tell you something else.) As for the schooling fish, if you don't want tetras, how about some danios. They are lots of fun to watch and there are a few different varieties to choose from. Also you can get a few of your favorite kind and they will school together since they are so similar they don't have a problem hanging out together at all. Another bonus about danios it that they are a lot less expensive than som eof the tetras so you save money and still get pretty fish! As for the background and gravel, I am thinking about doing a black gravel/black backgroun in my 55 gallon. There are so many options though that you could do just abotu anything! Christina. |

GirlieGirl8519![]() ![]() Fish Master *Malawi Planter* Posts: 1468 Kudos: 1029 Votes: 35 Registered: 25-Mar-2005 ![]() | Go with natural gravel, a black or blue back ground. Planted if you can. For tetras, I also suggest rummynoses. I just got some for my 55g and they are really colorful. I lost one the day after I got them, but the rest are doing great. The one may have been sick before I got them. I let the bag float in the water for 30 mins or so and then added some tank water to the bag and let it sit for another 15. For bottom feeders, cories and yoyo loaches are cool. I love my yoyo's. They hide alot but I only have 3 right now. I am going to get a couple more so that maybe they will come out more often. I also have cories in my 55g and along with the yoyo's that keeps the bottom active. I would not suggest danios...they are very active, kind of opposite of an angel. They can also be very nippy. For a second school of tetras, I suggest black neons. I think they are a bit bigger than regular neons and if the angel is small, they should not get eaten. Good luck!:%) |
LOACHESRCOOL![]() Enthusiast Posts: 206 Kudos: 215 Votes: 0 Registered: 27-Apr-2005 ![]() | i think im going to do jasons stocking list but i may ad a few yo yos and maybe 1 more angel.im going to use a dark blue background and dark blue sand and im going to do the white greek ancient ruins thing.I kno its not very original but i think the white would really stand out in the blues and look really good.ill post pics when i get it up and running |
dvmchrissy![]() Big Fish Posts: 477 Kudos: 301 Votes: 38 Registered: 09-Oct-2005 ![]() | If you are going to add loaches and another angel to that mix then you should probably drop the numbers on the tetras and the cories. Maybe you could do 10 rummynose and 10 cories? Also, if you have 3 angels you can pretty much count on one getting left out. You really would be better of with just 2. Try really hard not to overstock the tank. Angels make a lot of waste so be ready to do lots of water changes! Good Luck with you tank! Christina |
