When I change water I always add dechlorinator, to each jug of water I add to the tank. Should I jus add all the water, then add the dechlorinator, when I finished changing all of the water ?

Actually, I think that adding the dechlorinator before the new water goes into the tank is best. That way, it doesn't immediately disperse throughout the tank, most of which does not need the treatment. If you just add dechlorinator after you finish adding new water, you will have to dose it for the whole tank. If you do it before you put the water in, you only have to dose for each bucket (or whatever) of water. This way, you conserve some of your dechlorinator.

After I do my weekly water change I store two 25lt containers ready for next week. Before I fill each container I add 10ml of dechlorinator.
There are several reasons I do this but the main reason is to make sure I dont get any white spot into the tank via the tap water.

What is white spot? I swear I had that when I first filled up my tank! No one could tell me what it was at the time though, so I still don't know exactly what it was!

thanks,
Lauren

ps. I use a python water changing system and I just dump in the dechlor at the beginning because there is no way to add it to the water first, never had a problem doing it that way. Of course I just eyeball the amount of dechlor, I'm probably adding WAY too much!

I have only ever know it as "White Spot" 35+years.
On FP it is often caled "Ich"

The causitive agent is named Ichthyophthirius multifiliis

I agree with Sirbooks...I add the dechlor and then refill the tank. most bottles say if you're adding the dechlor directly to the tank then you should add enough to treat the entire tank. I don't...I add enough for the amount of water I'm adding and I've never had a problem.
