Hi There

I have just performed a water change and changed the white flossy filter bit

I put the filter back together and jiggled the flow outlet - This has now made the water really break the surface

Are there any thoughts as to how strong this flow should be

The fish seem to be happy playing in the flow

Would too strong a flow be dangerous to them or will they just stay away from it

Any views would be great

ta

Water breaking the surface is what you want for the best possible gas exchange between your aquarium and the atmosphere.

Most fish don't mind some current, but others require it be slow for either breeding purposes or due to the fact that they're not designed for high flow. I'd just have a little bit of a hideout where the current is less so the fish can rest if need be.

Welcome to FishProfiles Glad too see you've found us.

Surface agitation increases oxygen exchange, which is good for your shishies.

The amount of current you should have in your tank depends on what fish you're keeping though, and what size tank.

So...what fish do you have? And in what size tank? I'm sure you prolly don't have TOO much current.
