because i have an oscar im changing 25-50% water 1-2 times per week must i treat all new water or can it come straight from the tank as i hear the oscar are quite hardy fish

please advise

tap water? i use tap water, but i also use stress coat when adding new water.

It probably depends on the water source. Does it come from a local water company - because if it does it's probably treated with at least chlorine and possibly chloramine. And you should really use a dechlorinator to handle that.

At my home we have a private supply source and the water is untreated and comes from deep wells, so I don't have to worry about cholorine or chloramine.

i say....all water going in the tank should be treated...u may not see the effect of it but the fish can feel it.

It's better to treat the water before pouring it in your tank.
