If you have two heaters and one brakes full on, it should not be enough to boil your fish (like what happened to my fish). If one brakes full off your other heater will keep the fish from freezing. IMO you should always get two heaters. |

That's another reason I like heaters that have a light that comes on when heating (I can see if one never comes on, or never goes off) thanks all! |

It works fine and keeps the temp rock solid in winter . I used to have 2 50w heaters that did not do as good a job . I also position my heaters near the Cannister inlet so some of the water gets drawn in thru the cannister and out the other end of the tank . Seems to work well . Garry |

I have multiple digital thermometers on all ends and my temp stay within .5 of each side. So maybe 3 300 or go 2 of higher wattage Fish tanks are an expensive addiction |

daddySEAL Enthusiast Posts: 221 Kudos: 68 Votes: 3 Registered: 04-Mar-2008 | Well, as is my way....I "over filter, etc. equipment-wise" with three 400 gallon per hour power bio-filters from marineland that HOB, as an example. I'm now running two 400watt Hydor Theo heaters on the big tank. One at the inlet of a powerhead pump on one end of the tank, and the other at the other end of the tank, near the UV Sterilizer outlet(powerhead outflow) that I've installed under the tank stand in the center. I have the simultaneous on/off temperature settings pretty close now, because I bought them because they have light indicaters that turns on when heating (besides the heater size). Thanks |
