I've had a planted 29 gal for several years now and I'm down a few fish. I figure it's time to add a few more.

This is what I've got now:

1 opaline gourami
2 cherry barbs (1 male, 1 female)
4 pristella tetras
4 panda corys
1 albino cory
1 peppered cory
2 otos
a few Malaysian trumpet snails that aren't causing any problems

I'll add a few more of the tetras, definitely, and maybe a few more panda corys (the albino and the peppered were 'left over' from a long time ago, so I'm not planning on getting any more of those...they seem to fit in with the pandas for now).

So do you think I've still got some room left? What else could I add?

your full on the bottom of the tank, try looking into stocking the upper level.

marble hatchet fish school would fill you up, or something like a group of guppies.

You can also try a ram.

I'm partial to Zebra Danio(Danio rerio). those little guys have so much personality and and alot of action to the tank.. it keep in a fair size shoal they shouldnt bother you p.tetra's too much. Not to mentinon they are very hardy and can often defend themselves from the gourami..also the water parameter are fair close to the tetra's and panda.. i think it a match made in heaven..

p.s. they are very inexpensive

I would add a couple of more cherry barbs so that your male to female ratio would be about 1:3. I agree that some danios would be nice but I am not sure about the compatability with the gourami.

Thanks everyone =)

That gourami is pretty peaceful...I've never had a problem with him bothering other fish. I suppose I could try some danios and if it doesn't work out, I've got a 20 gal that I've been meaning to set up for a while anyway. Or maybe a ram...I think I'll just end up seeing what the LFS has.

And coltsfan, I haven't been able to find any female cherry barbs around here...I don't know if the stores are only stocking the males because of the colors or something. I guess I could try to order some online - is there a way to request females specifically?
