The tank is a 46 gal bow front with an aquatech filter, air stone for show, 250 watts of heat in two heater. No real plants.

The residents
6 Red Tailed Rasbora
4 X-ray Tetra
6 Platy 2 male 4 female
7 Neon Tetra
4 Cory cats

I do belive I am at my stocking level once the fish hit there max size. It dose look kinda empty so I can see were people could get in trouble putting to many fish in there tank.

I have been doing weekly 8 gallon water changes and every 2 weeks I clean off one of my two filter pads in the old tank water. I generaly do a light gravel vac with each water change. Basically skim the gravel surface. I have been putting the hurts on my test kit making sure my water paramaters stay good while adding fish and what not.

I now, I now a planted tank would look better. I am planning and dreaming about a planted tank as I type this. I think it will be a 72 gal bow front with good lights and CO2. I think I will build my own stand for this new tank and piece meal the needed accessorys together so I get exactly the lights, filter, and other stuff I have read about here on the boards.

Anyway here is a pic of the tank.

Great tank! You used plastic plants nicely I would say! Your stocking list sounds fine and it seems you take great care of your tank. Like you said, planted tanks look better and I would have to agree. Check out my 46 gal. bow in the planted aquaria topic in this forum..It is planted so maybe it could give you some ideas! Check out tetratechs planted 72 gal. bow for ideas if your planning to plant this type of tank in the future! Good luck!(planted tanks are not as hard as you think)...

I certainly agree a live planted tank would certainly look a lot better. Personally I think you have that many colours there it would be very hard to see the fish in your tank.

Have a look in [link=My Profile]http://

For years, I used artificial plants, thinking they were easier to maintain that the real thing. Now I have real plants, and have discovered that they are much easier to deal with than the fake ones - and the fish like them better too. Artificial plants seem to collect a lot more algae and gunk which is difficult to clean.
