I have decided to change my 10 gallon into a breeding tank in a while. I want to breed something that is not too hard to breed but not really really easy like live bearers. Any ideas?

Thanks!

Bettas, or a wild betta type if you'd rather something more exotic. Apistos or shellies (of course) would be good, too.

Voted for: German blue rams or corys

Rams: Lotsa plants, and driftwood to lower your pH. They'll love it.

Corys: Lotsa plants and gradually drop the temp to the lower 70s.

Are bettas hard to breed? How do you raise the fry? I can't get shellies anywhere here sadly (Melbourne,Australia) Are african dwarf cichlids hard to breed? the ones with bluish dots all over them? Would i bve able to breed both of those fish in a 10 gallon?

thanks for replying so quickly!

EDIT: sorry I ment african butterfly cichlids not african dwarf cichlids. Could I breed them in a 10 gallon?

Thanks Dani! ARe rams hard to breed? How do you raise the fry? Do the parents eat the eggs of fry? Can you breed them in a 10 gallon? Which corys are easy to breed? I don't want to breed peppered or albino or bronze.

If I bred bettas could I have a few otos in with them?

thanks so much!

I would go for sparkling gouramis... because they're really beautiful, but not something you can find everywhere... so there might be demand for them at your LFS.

I wouldn't breed bettas because they're so easy to come by, unless you want to get into breeding bettas for show.

Go with Ramirezi or Corydoras.

I have at the moment 1 male sparkling gourami. I started iwth 2 one came fromt he store iwth dropsy and died the next day and then I got anohter female that paired iwth the male. They never bred even though water conditions were perfect. tehn sadly the female got dropsy a few days ago and died. another fish came from the lfs sick. I might consider it though. My lfs does sell them quite often at $4.15 each.

If I bred sparkling gouramis I could have like 3 pairs. I thought of them but wouldn't the fry be impossible to raise? I can't get live baby brine shrimp only frozen and no chance of micro worms. I might not breed anyhting still thinking.
