Angelfish are very adaptable and while they come from softwater are easily kept in soft-hard without problems. Except for the elephantnose every fish mentioned is very common here. Maybe you could list some fish you liked that your petstores have?

Nope there are no Kois in this tank - that's another!

Anyway - I checked about the Angelfish and found out that Angelfish prefer a rather moderate hard water.

Is the book wrong?

And I would like more practical suggestions - some fish are not found at local petshops.

Why don't you try:

One Elephant Nose
Two Gouramis (A Blue and a Gold)
Small Salvinis Cichlid
Two Chinese Algae Eaters
One Neatly Coloured Pleco
Three Loaches

Ok.
They seem to get on rather well in the current water, so maybe the water is soft and not hard.

If you could give more specific lists, I would really appreciate it.

And I would prefer rather colourful fish.

Thanks

With Angels you can add some Gourami's & Corydoras.
Why don't you try to soften the water?.

Something for the bottom!
I'd look to see which types of the more hardy corys are available in your area. Why? Only because they're amusing, helpful in getting leftovers, and will fill in the bottom of a tank quite nicely .
For those too lazy to do it, tank capacity works out to approx 60US gallons, 50UK gallons and 226 litres
