Most of my posts the last few months have been questions about bacterial infections, ph fluctuations and Ich. Well, I finally got my 44 gallon tank stabilized and got the blue dye (Maracide) out of the tank. The water is crystal clear, the fish that survived this mess (3 rainbows, 1 clown loach, 2 gouramis) are all swimming around happily. Colors are deep and rich. I was supposed to be doing some work on-line but I couldn't stop watching the fish in this tank. It is a good reminder of what this hobby is all about.

ya sometimes you forget that the hobby isnt buying fish its actually sitting back and enjoying them. funny how weeks of medications and dieing fish can be washed away in just a few hrs of perfection.

Sitting back watching your fish knowing that they are healthy and happy and that you are doing the right thing in making sure they stay that way almost kinda makes you feel really good inside.

This may sound strange but I treat my Aquarium as a home for wild fish and it is my total responsability to take care of them. I have the best I can afford so why not them.

I think my Clown Loaches partically speak for them selves.

I now along with others try to pass this knowledge on to others so that they may enjoy a trouble free Aquarium Tank/s and make it a pleasure to keep fish.

i couldn't agree more with the post above - keeping fish is a huge honour and responsibility - mistreat a dog or a cat, it can bite you back or run away to a better home - but not our fish!! we're playing god, they can't go anywhere, and sitting in front of my beautiful tank is my reward for good consistent care and love. (just pausing to look at my new royal whiptails - GORGEOUS!!!)

The best part of the hobby for me is most of the things except the fully stock aquarium with fish just swimming around. While I do love to sit back and just stare at an aquarium for time on end, I love the other parts of it too.

I LOVE setting up an aquarium and getting new fish. Buying new fish is a thrill for me. Especially when I get a new fish that I've never had before.

I also love when fish breed. I love watching the behaviors that some have while breeding. Namely cichlids.

I love decorating aquariums too. A dream job for me would be to set up an aquarium then decorate it, then slowly stock it.

Yeah, what Keithgh said. lol, actually that is exactly the way I feel about it. Wife just doesn't understand. We have the best we can get for the dogs, and I want the fish to have the best too. After all, Its not like they can just hop out and go to the next tank.

Nothing like watching your fishes grow and know you when you stare at them... The big thing is when you are satisfied with the beautiful environment you have made, and when visitors get amazed and sticked to the glass for lots of minutes watching your precious babies.

nothing like someone asking about your fishes after a year from the last visit

i love watching the fish in my tank- the tank is in my room, so i watch it as i fall asleep every night. the bubbles from the airstone create a soothing river sound as well, and it's just good to see my fish so healthy and happily swimming around

I not only sit and watch my fish I feed them by hand. One of my kuhlis will actually eat out of my hand if he is out and about. I feed them freezdried tubefex worms as a treat once in awhile.

Oh I can look at the tank for hours. Always something going on. It's planted and I feel well proud when it's looking good and the fish are oblivious to be and behaving in what looks like a very natural manner. Like having a 24/7 documentary in the living room.I particularly enjoy watching young relatively drab fish develop and grow in beauties. And A plant that started as a 2" seedling turn into a lush green 2 ft monster.
