Hi folks

Please help find the name of my fish(es)

I acquired f.o.c. 5 "catfish", they are nocturnal, hide amongst the decor with their heads showing and "feelers" protruding, occasionally lying still on the bottom during the day, but will dart off if they see you. I have never seen them venture off the bottom of the tank

Approx 5 - 7cm long, silver grey with two horizontal cream lines, (and I think a cream underside), they seem to be very sociable, other fishes swim in and out of the decor without being chased. They have two long "feelers" - about half the length of their body and six smaller "feelers" around their WIDE mouths (two on the top lip and four on the bottom lip.Their fins are short and tail is thick and "mermaid" like. A distinctive feature is a pair of large false eyes behind their gill covers.

Had them now about four weeks so they must be feeding on the "left overs" as my fish stock has not declined - I have never seen them eat.

They sound like they could possibly be 4 Line Pictus Cats. I'm not sure though but from your description that's what they sound like. For future reference it's always good to know what you're buying before you buy it.

Did not buy them - i acquired them free of charge - even there owner did not know what they were called

Just tried searching the web for a picture of the 4 lined - any ideas of a site?
