First of I have the following tanks. 2 – 55 Gallon 1 – 35 Gallon 2 – 29 Gallon 1 – 20 Gallon Standard 1 – 20 Gallon Long 1 – 2.5 Gallon To save some confusion one of my tanks is a brackish water tank and all the fish in there must stay. I also acquired some large cichlids from my most recent tank purchase. So there are some constraints I am thinking that I will have to work out and thus this post. Ok, so my large fish list is as follows 1 – Pleco maybe 10” or so. 2 – Male Convicts 1 – Electric Yellow (moved in with blue gourami) 2 – Other Cichlids I have yet to ID because my site is down pictures will be provided later These currently are housed in a single 55. I am not well versed in cichlid care but I sold one of the convicts off because I felt that the tank was overstocked. I still think that it may be still. My dilemma here is two fold because I am currently thinking that it may be nice to expand my 35 gallon brackish water tank into this 55 the idea is that I may be able to get an archer in there. Plus my wife LOVES the cichlids and refuses to let me get rid of them and she HATES all my tanks. To top it off she really liked the idea of putting the tank into the bedroom but there isn’t enough space for the 55 but there is enough for the 35 but I fear that I would only be able to keep 2 or 3 of the fish currently in the 55 if at all and don’t want to over crowd them. Either way I won’t be adding the stock of the brackish tank that’s because they are set and can’t be moved except into a larger tank. So in the remaining tanks I have M&F Blue Gourami 2 Paradise Gourami 6 1” Molly (Still finding homes for some of them.) 3 Female 1 Male Golden Wonder Killifish 3 Female 1 Male Adult Molly (breeding stock for food supply) 1-2 Female 2-3 Male Peppered Cory (I am sure of 1 male and 2 female and am on the fence about the fourth) 1 Agassi Cory 1 Julei cory Mating pair of Albino Bristlenose Pleco Unknown amount of peppered cory fry, still hiding in the substrata in the nursery tank in the nursery. 5 Ottos 5 Pristella (golden and xray mixed school) 1 Rummy nose 2 orange tetra 1 neon or jumbo neon 6 albino cory 1 frog Paired Set of German Blue Rams Now the tetras are in one big school a lot of them are strays from purchases of tanks. My current Centerpiece fish are the Pair of Blue Gourami my male has some great fire orange tipped fins, and of course my rams. I was thinking of getting some more rams, I have found a nice German and two long finned golden ram that I thought about buying but this only confuses matters The 55 is mainly empty and will be used to hold about 8 to 10 peppered cory but will grow out several more probably it also has the blue gourami and the 1” molly. The 20reg is housing the 2 paradise gourami. The rest of the fish are in the two 29g with the fry in the 20 long and the 2.5 empty. This of course is not inclusive of the 55 with cichlids and the 35g brackish. What are some opinions out there on where people should go? I kind of wanted to do some kind of a theme in my tanks like in the 55 10 peppered cory 2 German and 2 long finned gold rams 2 blue gourami, 8 rummy nose and a few African butterfly’s to top it off so to speak. But I don’t think this is really any kind of a theme and I am not sure that I really have any themes in my fish as it sits. Which would put 4-6 aggassi cory in the 20 tall with the paradise gourami and maybe the pristellas, the molly in the 29 with the bristle nose’s and the 4-6 juli cory. And in the other 29 the killifish frog or … ugh I don’t know So many options. I think the ram actually should stay in the 30 in my daughters room she loves those. Any ideas would be a major help thanks guys sorry this is long and rambling. Oh and thoughts about any fish if any you think I should add. |
