All I have ever owned is a PH kit and I very rearly use it. If I think there is/could be a problem I will take a water sample to the local Aqu for a full test. I learnt to fly by the seat of my pants with out any kits at all in the very early years of fish keping. I dont think the kits in those days were as accurate as the types used today. If you keep an excellent eye on your tank every day when you feed them, and use all use all your senses, see, smell, touch, and hearing, you will learn to pick the problems very quickly. Having said all that I firmly believe any person new to fish keeping today should invest in a good test kit and learn how to use it correctly. Experience will follow Keith ![]() ![]() Near enough is not good enough, therefore good enough is not near enough, and only your best will do. I VOTE DO YOU if not WHY NOT? But they're all so useful...you really can't get away with one. How about getting a FW Master test kit? That's only one kit!!! It just has a lot of different tests. Errr yeah. My vote would *probably* be for ammonia. But pH, nitrItes, nitrAtes...they shouldn't be ignored. Why not get everything??? ![]() -Formerly known as the Ferretfish ![]() |
