Hey.. been doing some research on this product and im shocked that its a popular product world wide.

White crane is Colour enhancing food for fish.. It can has the ability to turn a grey female Red Empress into male show colours in 7 days.

What has come from research on this product is that white crane affects the fish on breeding, behaviour and lifespan.
Test were conducted in sydney Aus. All fish that were fed the white crane were unable spawn after the food was fed to them. Even after the food was no longer given to them, the fish didn't spawn. The Colour is temporary and results in a very worn out drab looking fish.

It is basically a steroid and there is nothing overlly posetive about the product.. i cant see why it would be still on the market.

anyone ever used it or had any experiences with it?

There has been an increase in foods out there that contain growth/color stimulants and/or hormones. Some fish farms pumping their fish full of these now as well as injection. It's leading to problems like sudden death (hormones run out and fish's health crashes), breeding problems, males showing female colors/traits and vice versa.. It's pretty sad.

I havent heard of this food, but I do know
there seems to be an awful lot of "color enhancing"
foods out there, and yet they dont seem to list the
"medicinal" contents of the food.
I, myself, am very wary of using these types of
food, espescially because you as the consumer have absolutely NO idea whats in them! (its not a requirement in most countries to list all the ingredients in pet foods)
I try to stick to basic flakes that have quality, natural ingredients, with no biproducts and artifical colors.
I use Big Als Online Staple Flake! Its great, cheap, and the fish loooove it!
Same goes with my dog and cats, they get only all natural foods with no biproducts, none of those garbage supermarket brands for them!

I used white craine super g with wot I thought was great results on my sa cichlid tank. My sinspillum looked great the red on their heads was unbeliveable. Untill one day i questioned my most respected LFS about the product, and my o my did they give it a bad wrap. As the reasons above and even "melting" of the skeleton and some internal orgons. They pointed out many flaws in how the colour enhancement works on your much loved fishes, one thing that stood out was the main active ingredient was a form of bacterier, and as good as a full colour fish is you are sending them to a death sentience. I likened this food to fish steriods as they all seemed more aggerssive when i stopped using white craine. My option for food is high quality flake, Pellets and live worms etc vairied through the week. And one day without feeding to let them digest and cleanout.
P.s I cant belive its not BANNED
NEWAY Have fun

White crane is used a bit in Australia. I dont about overseas. there are a few shops in Sydney that actually advertise their fish as being feed on white crane. Why, I dont know, but I suspect its to trick uneducated people into buying poor quality fish.
i have also heard that some fish breeders use it to sell there fish with bright colors at a young age, But when people take them home they lose all there color
I think its a terrible product and the damage it does to fish is not fully known yet.
