I have a planted 25G tall eclipse tank with a biowheel filter and an air curtain. No ammonia or nitrites, nitrates are 15-30 ppm, pH is 7.5 and hardness is 11-12 dH.
Current residents are: 7 harlequin rasboras, 2 ottos and 1 golden apple snail. I was thinking of adding either a pair of kribs or bolivian rams (I would prefer the kribs, I think) since my research suggests these are the best cichlids to start with. I was also thinking of adding some dwarf neon rainbowfish - my research suggests I should get at least 1 male and 3 females and they will school with my harlequins. Would this over-stock my tank and is this combination compatable? Thanks.

id get more ottos first and i would get rams because kribs can get very very aggressive especially when there breeding. So i think they would kill the ottos so you could take the ottos back to the store and get a bn and 2 kribs but if you want too keep the ottos then i would get rams they are much more peaceful.

hello!

i would suggest to get a couple more ottos, and a pair or trio of rams (instead of kribs) as well. as mentioned, they are a little more peaceful and, imo, more colourful and attractive!

if you were to get them, and three or four dwarf rainbows, i don't think that you would be overstocked by any means.

also, it sounds like you're good with your maitenance, so keep it up and don't be worried about the sensitivity of the rams...

good luck

Before you criticize someone walk a mile in their shoes. That way you're a mile away and you have their shoes.
