I "had" a blk mystery snail in my tank with 1 gourami, 1 pleco, 5 danios, 3 cories... To my bewilderment I looked in my tank this morning and the snail was gone but the shell is still there. I have looked around my tank but can seem to find the "remains" anywhere? Any ideas?

I just don't see any of my fish being able to consume that snail in a day or so. Weird.

Snails are made up of very soft parts. Thus, their decomposition is rapid. It's possible the snail may have severely polluted the tank, so the ammonia may have jumped a few notches. Of course, do a water change if such a thing has happened.

Those fish would certainly make short work overnight in cleaning up a dead snail. It is also a good suggestion to do at least 3 30% water changes three days appart to make sure the tank is not poluted.

Do a full water test first and when completed the water changes, just to be on the safe side.

Have a look in [link=My Profile] http://www.fishprofiles.com/forums/member.aspx?id=1935[/link] for my tank info
