I have 3 tanks in my room including a 75g and 55g. I have my 125g in the room next to mine. I could easily set up two more tanks but I dont have the energy. Just remember that with more tanks its easy to forget about something in a tank.

*coughs* I have ALL my tanks in my bedroom.

1 x 20 long
1 x 12 gal
1 x 10 gal
1 x 5 gal
5 x 2 gal

And yes, I'm out of counter space to PUT more tanks. ...unless I put away some stuff on my dresser. I'm still trying to figure out if there's more room for betta tanks.

~Meow. Thus spoke the cat.~

it is hard to keep a small 10g set up well balanced...I do not wish to put you off but after my last go I'll stick to using the 10g as a hospital tank.

I wish you luck with it & hope you enjoy it. I want a small 20g? ish set up with just pufferfish in my bedroom when it's decorated.

If I had room for a set up in the kitchen I'd cook & clean more as I'm easily distracted. lol

It is so funny because i was just in the same position as you! I have a 20 gallon community planted and i wanted a something a little different. So of course, my mother was not a fan of anything bigger than a 20 (aka the answer was NO WAY!) so i went with a ten gallon and i now have shellies in there. I also acquired a 6 gallon that i am still deciding what to do with it so for right now i have a betta in there who came from another two gallon tank, lol! I can never make desicions!

Yep, know the feeling.

I get where you're coming from. I'd like more then the 2 tanks I have. But there is no way in hell I'd set up another large , well lit, Co2 tank

The key is , apart from your main tank, keep the others as low maintenance as possible.

The small 5 gal I have takes almost no work at all even though heavily planted.

I have the space and the design in my head for a medium tank that would require almost no work. Moderate light, No Co2, no stem plants, lot's of rock and wood. If done properly it wouldn't even need water changes. But I also have a wife who'd beat me around the head with one of her handbags if I set up another tank

Go for it, just keep it simple.

Well, let me be the first to kick you in the pants towards more fish!!

I have 4 tanks running in my living room, and 2 in my bedroom. Multiple tanks in one room is far more common than you seem to lead on to be in your thinking!! I think it's weird to have just one tank in a room

If you have the space, the equipment, why isn't it set up already?!

Do it man!! Now!! Quit reading my post!! Go set it up!!

MTS is one of those afflictions that you want to be affected by

I have the Panda Fun Palace™ and the breeding aquarium in the living room, and once my kitchen is fully rebuilt, the hospital tank is going there. And, if funds will allow, I'm going to build a 4 ft version of the Panda Fun Palace™ and move the guys into that, so that I have 2 breeding aquaria for raising baby Pandas (goodness knows I need them!).

If you want an extreme version of the syndrome, try the Cichlid expert Ad Konings. He bought a complete new house just for aquaria. And has something like 250 Cichlid aquaria in it.

Almost forgot ... Justice, I'm looking for a shelf system like that. What's the brand name? And can i get a version that will support large aquaria (say, up to 6ft)???

Shellies = Tanganyikan Shell-Dwelling Cichlids. Genus Neolamprologus. VERY popular upon account of small size, modest space requirements when compared to other Rift Lake fishes, relative hardiness and exciting breeding behaviour. Take a look at LittleMousling's utterly stunning photos of his Neolamprologus stappersi and see why these fish have so many fans.

Other species include N. brevis, N. ocellatus, N. multifasciatus and N. meleagris.

This page]http://www.cichlidrecipe.com/shellweb/[/link] and [link=this page]http://www.aquariacentral.com/articles/shelldwellers.shtml[/link] are good starting points, along with [link=this article from our very own FP pages.

MTSI'm not affected by MTSreally I'm not

OK Fine so I'm lying, and I'll be struck by lightening when this storm rolls in

There are only 2 cures for MTS, 1-Get out of fish all together, this is not the cure I suggest 2-Get more tanks! this is my suggestion; and is the easiest and best way out of MTS:%)

OK that being said, here was my solution to being able to get the most so far out of my little apt...Wal-Mart has the shelving units that are black and not too bad to look at, and they can hold at least 3 tanks, possibly 4 depending on the height of the tanks I know set up how mine are I can fit 3 normal 20 gallon tanks easily, the 4th shelf is well holding fish stuffes...so in the space where you might only fit 1 tank you now have 3...I have one of these on one side of my bed and planning on one for the other side of the bed...then at the foot of my bed, well the wall across from the foot of my bed is my 29...
The livingroom is currently occupied with a 6 ft and 4 ft (125/55), with more to come I'm afraid

So you know what is 2 tanks in a room? That is no big deal..heck there are some people that have a room just for their tanks

LOL too many tanks? Are you in the right forum?

I've got two in the bedroom, two in the livingroom... plus my terrarium. Did I mention that both rooms are about 12x13? I'm still saving up for the 180g in the living room... I'll just have to sit on the floor. :88)

Well, the deed is done. For anyone still wondering the outcome, here's a pic of the tank so far. I haven't added the shells yet, but as you'll probably guess, they're going to go on the right-hand side of the tank.

I'VE GOT TERMINAL MTS...I SET UP 8 TANKS IN 8 MONTHS...
THEY RANGE IN SIZE FROM 10 GALLONS TO 90 GALLONS. I'M NOW TAPPED OUT FOR ROOM (1 IN FAMILY ROOM, 3 IN baseMENT, 3 IN LIVING ROOM, 1 IN KID'S ROOM). MY GOAL IS TO CONVERT MY baseMENT INTO A GIANT AQUARIUM ROOM. OF COURSE, I HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL MY KIDS MOVE OUT AND TAKE THEIR STUFF WITH THEM...UNFORTUNATELY, THEIR 9 AND 6. I GUESS I'LL HAVE TO BE PATIENT...I WILL PROBABLY NEED THERAPY:%)

I've talked about my own dealings with MTS before - basically I've been able to get over the desire for a second tank by concentrating harder on my main tank, i.e. more maintenence, replanting etc. I think I've come to the point, however, where I want to go in a different direction with a tank... the shell-dweller route. This would mean getting away from soft-water planted tanks, hence I can't incorporate them into my current tank (I'd be sure to use some anubias to aquascape, though )

So, I have a spare 10 gallon tank with extra filter heater and lighting, and I'm really itching to get this going...

I ask you, fellow FP members, WHAT SHOULD I DO? I've thought about where to place the tank, and I have space on top of a solid oak dresser in my room... but my other tank is already in there... is it weird to keep multiple tanks in ones room? Please, I'm looking for a kick in the pants in either direction here. Thanks
