i have a new tank set up. and the air bubbles on the air stone aren't popping like they do in my other tanks. it just builds up about half the tank surface filled with bubbles before some pops. what does that mean? is something bad in the water?

All I can think of is that you cover is too close to the top of the water surface

I've noticed the same thing on my 20...I overfilled a bit on the last water change. I don't have much surface agitation and few bubbles but the ones I do get are gathering on the surface and refusing to break.
Think of a bubblebath (hes I know guys don't do it but just pretend okay ). The bubbles dont' pop much unless you move the water around some.
