I would get six of them first. Females are noticably larger then males, espically when viewed from above. They lay there eggs usually on the glass of on large leaves. Then in most cases you have to either remove the eggs or parents.

Females grow longer and fatter than males, but the differences are not apparent until the fish are at least four cm (if a group is purchased at the same size, the females will grow faster and bigger than males). They are easy to breed, and mature albino Corydoras should spawn by themselves if they are well cared-for.

Females are wider when you look at them from the top of your tank & i would get 4 males & 2 females, to breed them. If they are well conditioned & you made a water change & add some cooler water, they will lay eggs on the glass & they are easy to see aswell.

You really want to get at least 6-8 to begin with. If you get a choice like it's been said the females usually tend to be larger, and wider, but don't be fooled it could just be a difference in age while at the lfs

To help get them in the mood, do a good water change 30% with a slightly cooler water temp (only 1-2*F you don't want to stress them). Give them some blood worms, frozen (defrosted) or live, and some fresh veggies tend to spark the mood for mine. Give them ample of items to spawn onto or behind (my metaes enjoy the java moss behind the driftwood, they are rather shy).

Then just sit back and wait for the mayhem to begin...and trust me if you haven't heard anyone telling about it or seen it, you will be in fits, laughing They seem to obey no speed limit when the time is right, and will be racing around the tank, chasing each other, and the female (you'll know it's a she by this move) will be creating a "T" formation with the males. Thus she basically head butts the males in the middle of their bodies. Then she'll be off to deposit the eggs. Loads of fun to watch, and always keeps me laughing to watch

Good luck, and enjoy heidi
