Welcome to fishprofiles

Brown algae is often what's known as diatoms. These little guys are present usually in newer tanks (usually under 2 months or so) or tanks with a high level of phosphates and silicates in the water.

How old is this tank and what kind of lighting do you have?

I think that 10-11 hours of light is too much. Do you have any live Plants in your tank?.

How often do you do water changes?

Your photoperiod isn't that bad, i'm leaning towards a buildup of phosphates and silicates in your tank. Do you use city/village/municipal tap water to do your changes, or do you have well water?
