I don't know much about breeding, however, albinos are a color morph of the bronze much like albino tigers and albino people. Its just a genetic anomoly that has been continuosly bred with other albinos to keep the genetic anomoly in the fish for ornimental reasons. Cross breading cory seems to add unpure genetic lines to the spiecies, not that its not possible to happen in the wild. But I hope that this thread doesnt start a discussion on the ethics of crossbreeding, but I think it makes stronger animals by breeding out genetic flaws such as in dalmations for instance there spinal column near there rears tends to deteriorate paralyzing the dog. However in this instance I don't know if its possible much less ethical.

Good luck though.

Mrwizard,

Albinos only occur in mamals (or so I have been told) what you see at fish stores are bred for that color characteristic.

You can breed Albino & Bronze Corydoras & the small ones will all be Bronze.

albinos occur in all sorts of animals Bcwcat22.

Albinism is also known as hypomelanism in which an organisms lacks the ability to produce a certain pigment. it is a recessive trait since the ability to produce a pigment oviously supercedes the inablity to produce a pigment.

In the case of Corydoras Aneaus the bronze coloration is dominant to the hypomelanistic individuals, so breading the two will result in all bronze corydoras, since all hypomelanisms are recessive.

Please don't try to create any hybrid fish. I won't go into the possibilities of crossbreeding Corydoras species, but I will say that I'm against humans forming new aquarium fish "species". I find it to be unnecessary and wasteful. It would be much better if those who bred hybrid fish turned their attentions to breeding fish which are rare in the wild and/or have not yet been bred in captivity.

The following thread contains some discussion on hybrids for further reading.

But this is not hybreeding. It is just mixing strains. If you breed a blue and a red beta, you're not making a hybrid, just another color morph.

I was referring to "...could you also breed an aneus with a panda or peppered or somthing, i really want to make another cory hybrid"

There are enough hybrid Corydoras already, I am against humans creating more of them. If someone has cories which crossbreed in their tank, they are not providing the fish with adequate numbers and are keeping them irresponsibly.

Hehe, well even professors make mistakes. But I totally agree with SirBooks breed some that have the really tall fins, or breed pandas there hard enough to breed etc etc there is enough out there, and with that there are also a bunch of tatooed and painted ones out there. Its just crazy leave the cross breeding to the wild and breed the ones no one sees.
