All those people who wonder why i describe mega tanks as civil engineering projects ... this proves my point eloquently. When you have to hire a 30 ton excavator to get the project off the ground, it's a civil engineering project.

In one sense, you have to admire his dedication to the project. But from the list of problems he's had, it's obvious that this is NOT for the rank amateur.

As for changing 10,000 gallons every week, his water company bill must be enormous. Unless he has a supplementary tank or pond in which he can age the water, his dechlorinator costs must be astronomical too ... just hang on a minute ...

My Tetra AquaSafe bottle I've just looked at is a 100 ml bottle. Says 5 ml treats 10 litres of water. So one bottle treats 200 litres of water. Now, he's changing 45,000 litres or so a week. so that's 225 bottles of dechlorinator at £3.65 per bottle, which is ... £821.25. If, as he stated in the article, he's working on a budget, somehow I don't think he's spending over £800 per week on dechlorinator. He MUST have some means of letting the water stand and lose its treatment chemical content prior to use. So where does he keep 10,000 gallons of water in a convenient spot for the transfer?

I'd probably want a shallower version - something truly ridiculous like 200 feet long - then put 2,000 Panda Corys in it and let them breed like mad.

He's NEVER moving house... EVER

I knew it was going to be impressive when I saw that bobcat to dig out a huge cavity. It looks wonderful. I love where he says "the green tinge to the water disappeared over the first YEAR. So people here wanting to shift such a symptom from their own tank should be thankful it takes a few weeks! Imagine the volume of water for it to take a year.

I will stick to my 4 ft home tank. 'nuff for me. No MTS for me...was to hard to move just the one.

ROFLMAO

Try moving 124 tanks (up to a 7 footer 265 gal) about 5 years ago, and again just last month!

I would love to have the tank he has there.
