After loosing all the tetras in my 29g I've decided I don't want to restock in black neons again. I'd like to spawn some licorice gouramis in a small outdoor pond and then put them in the 29g over the winter. Right now the tank has a half grown angel and 4 yoyo loaches. Will the angel get along with little 1.5-2" gouramis or will it be another fish loss in that tank? The angel did get along with rams but the rams didn't like the tank. It was too open with too much traffic for them. The other place to put either the angel or the gouramis is my 55g but it is ruled over by Pecan the blue gourami who has yet to allow anything but tetras in his swimming space.

I personally would not do it as I think the Angles could be fin nippers to the Gouramis. I do not know much about that variety of Gouramis but if they are of the timid type they certainly would not be happy, when the angles grow a bit bigger.

I have talked with many a shop owner and others who had them, but majority of them recommend angels and gouramis as tank mates.

and if the profiles within this site are accurate, they also say that they are compatable.

Fish tanks are an expensive addiction

I have had angels and dwarf gourami's before (10 yrs ago). They lived together well in a 55 gallon. You know alot of it depends on the fish. They are like all creatures a product of DNA and environment. Depends on the fish. I seem to be able to keep aggressive things together while other people have varied opinions on the stock.Thats why I say what I do about the mixture of attitudes.

I have two angels and a snakeskin gourami in the same tank. I'm the past I've kept pearl and moonlight gouramis with angels. I've never had a problem but as always it depends on the temperament of the fish.

I dont think there will be a problem 110Litre at work has various fish including a Red Dwarf Gourami and an Angel 4inch rainbow, theres no problem there.

The Angel minds its own business, except when theres food about then it just barges everything else out of the way, greedy little thing.

My angel has shown no agression to anything I put in the tank so I'll try it and rescue the little gouramis if they need it. Maybe the angel will just treat them like the rams. He looks a bit lonely in there with no top swimming fish at all.

Two angels and two opaline gouramis in a 75G here. They don't seem to pay any attention to each other at all. I'd say they were good tank mates.
