Different species of corys will tolerate eachother, however that is not the same as schooling together. If you're looking to add these I'd consider either being able to get an entire (small) school of 6+ at once or consider other options.
"Buttons are NOT Toys!" |
hembo666![]() ![]() Big Fish Posts: 350 Kudos: 288 Votes: 3 Registered: 01-Apr-2005 ![]() | we bought the 2 pandas and 3 bandits within a few days of each other, both were supposed to be pandas bu on further research they obviously arnt although they do school together, that is why we are looking to add 2 more pandas. also this would level up the numbers (bandit and panda) with the peppers |

hembo666![]() ![]() Big Fish Posts: 350 Kudos: 288 Votes: 3 Registered: 01-Apr-2005 ![]() | surely i dont have room ror a school of clown loach, i thought i was pushing it a bit for stocking as it is |
tankie![]() Fish Addict Posts: 857 Kudos: 848 Votes: 230 Registered: 15-Mar-2005 ![]() | well...i think ur stocking is fine except for as was mentioned...why not get a small schooling cories (6+) instead of different varieties. and indeed, add more tiger barbs(5 more or so) to avoid nipping the tankmates. |
hembo666![]() ![]() Big Fish Posts: 350 Kudos: 288 Votes: 3 Registered: 01-Apr-2005 ![]() | ??? we dont have any tiger barbs |
_wendy_![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Enthusiast Posts: 174 Kudos: 164 Votes: 64 Registered: 18-Mar-2005 ![]() | surely getting 2 more pandas would balance things up? the bandits and cories are identical apart from the black stripe down the backs of the bandits, they all school together. |

Fish school by markings, not scientific names, and I doubt they will mind the subtle differences in markings. |
_wendy_![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Enthusiast Posts: 174 Kudos: 164 Votes: 64 Registered: 18-Mar-2005 ![]() | thank you. so getting 2 more pandas/bandits would be a good thing? we have 7 peppers that school together then the 5 pandas/bandits that school together |
_wendy_![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Enthusiast Posts: 174 Kudos: 164 Votes: 64 Registered: 18-Mar-2005 ![]() | well, went to lfs today. they havent got any pandas/bandits at moment. we ended up buying 7 pentazona barbs.asked for 5, but he put 7 in by mistake lol. bargain! we moved the 4 serpae tetras to the bottom tank as they had started to get nippy. these are the first fish back in the tank after we lost the others to big whitespot outbreak, so will be keeping a close eye. seen a couple of rock shrimp that we are considering to go with the serpaes in the bottom tank. |
Hasi![]() Hobbyist Posts: 53 Kudos: 29 Votes: 0 Registered: 05-May-2005 ![]() | You can get the RTBS, they can be aggressive but not with the fish you have and they are not as bad as people make them out to be. A 70g has got plenty of room for territory and swimming space, have lots of plants and hiding places so you can minimise aggression. I have a RTBS in my 70g and it is an awesome centrepiece fish especially when it gets older and its colours REALLY deepen. No aggression issues except the odd short chase but no attacks/nips or chase downs |
hembo666![]() ![]() Big Fish Posts: 350 Kudos: 288 Votes: 3 Registered: 01-Apr-2005 ![]() | our main concern with the btrs was if it would be agressive towards the cories it is currently very submissive to another rtbs in dads 70g (bad advise from his lfs, 2 rtbs in a 70g) and we are looking to move it to ours if we can |
