I don't have one, and many other successful aquarists on this site don't have one. I just take my water into work (a pet store) for testing whenever I feel like it, which is never. I just do my water changes every week, and I haven't had to worry about water quality. I tested for pH just once. If you do want to buy one, go with a liquid test kit. The test strips are not very accurate or consistent. The fw master test kit from Aquarium Pharmaceuticals seems pretty decent. |

You seem new to the hobby, and im not exactly a veteran but the point is IF anything goes wrong in the tank, 90% of the time it is safe to say it is because of the water conditions. Just my 2 cents, i'd rather have the test kit on hand then lose a fish especially after you have grown attached to the fish |
