ok, i have a fav fish store and im taking fish there for the first time and all, i called him up and asked him what he would pay me for them, and this is what he told me....

guppies-1.00 each (i have 24 going)
sword tails- 1.50 each (i have 1 large male)
bettas- 1.50 (i think i want to get rid of 4 males..im looking forward to a crown from another store)
schooling minnows- ??.?? he isnt sure if they r native to vermont, i know they r to newyork, i caught them and bred them here, and have 18 to sell, they r quite flashy)

but he says that he pays half of which he sells the fish for i think these r great prices what do you think?

I know for the guppies that isn't a bad price, I usually get 75 cents to a dollar each, and I would assume the swords would be similar...

For the most part you can usually expect to get about 1/4 the price they sell them for. Or that is about what I get, sometimes as much as 1/3 if they are "in need" of them.

Yep, those are pretty good prices.

For comparison, this is what my store sells those fish for:

Guppy: (Male) $3.99, (Female) $1.99
Swordtail: $3.99
Betta: (Veiltail) $4.99, (Crowntail) $8.99, (Plakat) $8.99

I'm not your neighbor, you Bakersfield trash.

Yeah, you got some good deals. I would have expected that he'd offer less for the livebearers or not take them at all, because they are so common and really easy to keep in stock. It isn't like stores have problems ordering them.

most lfs have 100% mark up on all goods and a lot will only offer store credit when buying fish off the public. so i think they are good prices
