Keep in mind this knifefish is notcurnal and nearly blind. It is of the Carapo family which uses electricity to navigate through its environment. It will need a fairly large tank, being that its average maximum size is around 24 inches from what I've read. It will most likely never reach that size in captivity, but none the less, this fish needs very large tank. And other tank mates of similar species would be a problem. They could even kill each other. I wouldn't recommend this fish unless you know what you're getting into. And as for having a Clown Knife as a tankmate, you should be ok. Once again, I can't stress ebough how large of a tank these two would need to be able to live together.

a 18" clown can do alot of damage to a fish n a banded knife isnt the bulkiest of fish
if the tank is really large then possibly if enough plants r added

my clown knife is a peaceful tank raised fish. he WILL NOT eat n.e other fish EXCEPT(high fin loaches[which also happens to be my favorite]) my knife is very peaceful, ehich i am guessing is rare. my large knife can be kept with tetras, barbs, and ottos. idk y but she just is.
