a 10g is way 2 small 4 a peacock, even the 5" ones, 4 a 10g, and depending on the ram, you could have a breeding pair of Blue Rams in there,
as 4 the tank i recomend "Asian Rice Paddy Tank" mine has 6.5wpg, CO2 (i don't have any asian plants, but i can wait and get some actual rice this spring, in the tank i have a female CT betta, 2 dwarf gouramis, 3 kuhili loaches, and a guppy (alright it's not asian, she's just there till her new home is done) and plants i have: hornwort, aponos, dwarf lillys, dwarf hair grass, anacharis, and duckweed

yea i was thinking of getting khuli loaches or a pair of blue rams. i know i can get the khulis but rams would be tougher to get around here. Are khuli at all active?

I say Neons!!! They are bright, colorful, and quite interesting...

Of course I wonder how many ghost shrimp would fit?

Kuhili's when in a tank alone are almost NEVER seen, but in groups they sometimes pile around decorations in the lights, Kuhili's are nacturnal and they will eat algea wafers, they get about 3" long

I recently have purchased a 10 gallon with all the fixings: glass canopy, flourescent light, aquaclear mini, gravel, heater. The problem is i need opinions on how to fill it. My original idea was for a breeding pair of rams but most tell me a 20 long would be a better idea. So now i'm open to any ideas. I also plan on adding a few basic live plants for look and help with the nitrates.

I really love my Blue Rams. They are colorful - especially at feeding time. Mine are quite social but also do well with a couple of hideouts to retreat into -

Rams are a good choice, german arent as hardy as bolivian generally.

I'd choose cardinals over neons, hardier and IMO look nicer

Cory's are a good active choice for the bottom of the tank, try and get a few 4-6

as is a Bristlenose plec esp for eating algae, and i think rubberlip plecos stay small too not sure about algae eating habbits tho (might want to look them up if you like the look of them)

otto's are very cute, esp if your going to have live plants, mine are nearly always eating, if theyre not then they are 'resting' on leaves, using their fins as arms lol so cute

you could always have guppy's nice and colourful... ummm... danios they're zippy...

hey and if you decide you DO want blue rams, i have one that has been getting harassed by the other 2(i actually have 3 right now but they are juvies and im eventually going to get rid of one anyway)

i will trade him to you for some plants or something like that, but i wont put him in the mail (im from MA)

im gonna watch them for a while though and see if it settles down.

I have a ten gallon in my hall, it is darker there and I keep neons with plants and two snails. The neons are bright and it looks great in the dark hall.
