Anyone own one of these?

I just saw one in the store. Its the first time I have seen one in Australia.

I asked the guy at the counter how much they are out of curiosity and he said $285!!!!

What makes them so fantastic that a pet shop could justify putting such a price ticket like this on them?

wow that price is incredibly steep... maybe it's because you can obviously keep six or seven gold fish in each one :%)

before anyone tries to beat me up... that was meant as sarcasm

Oh dear have the bio orbs raised their ugly round heads again!

*mutters* Well if you really want to waste that much money on a tank go ahead, but remember stocking isn't just about how many gallons per hour your filter filters or how amazing or high tech it is. Stocking is also about space and the needs of the fish. If the fish gets big (goldfish get big) and if the fish is active (goldfish are very active) then don't stock them in a bio orb.

From what I remember they're under 10 gallons so it'll make a great home for ... umm .. wellll a betta
or a few endlers if you have a new home for the fry.

Or you could just ship me the few hundred and I'll be more than happy to put it to use.

Several websites in US have the 8 gallon biOrb for $169 with the light.

Can you put a heater in there or is it only for goldfish.

]:| BIORBS ARE NOT FOR GOLDFISH!

Goldfish will stunt and die in that tank. They get @least twice the size of the glass and belong in nothing less than a 75 gallon tank.
*cough* thank you for your attention

Heating wise, looks like its' a rather tight self enclosed system....which means...yep! you've got to buy the right [link=accessories from them]http://www.reef-one.com/accessories/heater-stand.htm" style="COLOR: #EB4288[/link].

One thing I'm still trying to understand is
The globe is manufactured from Plexiglas acrylic and because of its larger water capacity, biOrb provides fish with approximately ten times more space than a traditional bowl.
They've figured out how to warp space .

I was actually thinking about getting one and putting a school of very small tetras in it. So I'm glad you should me you could heat it. But on the other hand I hate supporting these companies that are so irresponsible with the size/number of fish they show in their ads. Ads should have a disclaimer on them.
