hi, i have recently moved and my 6x2x2 is getting quite a deal more sunlight which is in turn I believe in assisting this black, very stubborn hard to move spot algae forming on the front of the tank.

We have a vareity of fairly large "algae eaters" including a fully grown bristlenose, sucking cat fish and a gibbiceps however they dont seem very interested in removing it for me, there is a 25cm saratoga in there who is quite protective of certain areas of the tank which may be forcing these fish to stay away, does anyone have any tips for manual cleaning and removal of this filth?

It is def. spreading so I think ill need to hit it on the head fairly quickly.. I dont particuarly want to emtpy the tank so any tips for cleaning it whilst full or semi full would be appreciated.

I have already tried the magnet cleaner things and also scrubbing/scratching with my hand however it has no effect or only removes a portion of the spot. Thanks for any tips you may have..

I should mention that the tank is in a temporary position while renovations are being completed and its final resting place, if i dont upgrade beforehand will not get hit by as much sunlight thank goodness.

Hi,
Check out this site:
http://www.otocinclus.com/articles/algae.html

From your description, it is called Green Spot algae, and
must be scraped of with a razor blade. Ottos and such won't
touch it.
