Umm... Bloodworms are a type of wormlike insect larvae. I wouldn't exactly call them "grubs" though.

Actually, no, you shouldn't use FD bloodworms as a staple food because they're not nutritionally balanced. Using them as a primary food can lead to constipation and other such "fun" things.

I generally use a good quality betta pellet (HBH or Hikari) as a staple food and then alternate with bloodworms and a betta flake food to give them variety. And then maybe once a week, I throw in something nummy as a treat. Seems to work well and my bettas are happy.

I agree totally with Kitten, blood worms can constipate (especially a betta). I have tried something new with my fish lately. Earthworm flake, they love it..I use it as a treat only.

YES bloodworms are sold under the name "RED GRUBS"

ask Tim about earthworm flake, he has a link for it....

Tubifex is not as good as bloodworm. For one it isn't as nutritious, also it can be disease ridden because it lives in raw sewage.

Speaking of bloodworms, does anyone know/recommend a site where I can order LIVE bloodworms?
