i would like to start feeding my betta some live food as an actual treat, as blood worms are part of his daily meals. my concern is how much the brine shrimp will salinate the tank water. i have a small tank and i do very frequent water changes due to the amount of ammonia build up from the betta and his tank mates, and the fact that i dont yet have a gravel vac, so would the small amount of salinity added by brine shrimp be of any concern?

Hi and WELCOME to Fish Profiles!
Here is an excellent article on raising and harvesting brine shrimp..

There are others and each gives some varience of the above.

HI,
Boy, that is a good question. Perhaps a "dime" size amount?
Thing is once you hatch them then you are going to have to feed them. It's been a few decades since I've hatched any brine shrimp. As I recall the containers come with suggested amounts. I'd rely on their suggestions and I'd keep it small till you have tried it and experiment with the size of the hatchings.

It seems like the majority of people go with brine shrimp or mosquito larvae. I have had tremendous luck with just buying brine shrimp and feeding them to my fish.
