Dwarf puffers are freshwater and you can have 1 for every 2-3 gal of water.

I always taught that Puffers are Brackish. Are there any that live in Brackish waters, as that what i've read somewhere.

Jason,

Figure eight puffers are brackish, and so are a few others. Some puffers are full marine as well.

Arrowhead and congo puffers are also FW but need at least a 20 long.

You could have 1-3 dwarf puffers in a fw enviorment
or
2 b-b gobies in a brackish enviorment

Do puffers get along with adf's?
& do you think b-b gobies will be allright in fw? If so could 2 dwarf puffers go in with them?

DPs are definitely FW. I agree with 1 for every 2-3g.

BB gobies are brackish. Although they're often kept in FW it shortens their lifespan.

As far as an ADF with DPs, I've never personally done it but it the tank was well planted and included some sort of hiding place for the frog it might work.

I have 2 ADF's in with a dwarf puffer and many other peaceful fish in a 55 gallon with no problems. I think it would be ok for you too. Get as big a ADF as you can though. Dwarf puffers are not recommended for a brackish tank, though. They are the best choice for a smaller tank.

My mom is currently keeping a DP with an ADF without a problem. There is a hiding spot for the frog, but the two mostly just ignore each other.

Check out http://www.dwarfpuffers.com for a lot of info on DPs.

Referring to the above mentioned Dwarfpuffer site,

They are capable of killing tank mates much larger than themselves with their relentless picking and nipping.

Nobody in this thread seems to have had this experience. Are yours all in a species tank (except for the frog)?

pookiekiller12 --> how long do you have your DP already?

My oldest is close to two years old, always in a community setting. I have added a couple more to that same tank without problems. Please note that the puffers have no slow tankmates, or tankmates with extravagantly long fins. I think the trouble would be that if your puffer is aggressive, the beak it has will cause a lot of damage. Mine are also WELL fed(so hopefully they will not feel the need to taste anything), constant supply of snails, and frozen blood worms and frozen brine shrimp regularly. I also have another tank with a newer dp without any problems.
