Ok went to the local lfs and was complaining because of the nitrates in the water at home being high...others were having the same problem...the girl who was doing the water testing explained, for some reason something happened to one of the main water lines here in Pasadena. So the city had to shut down that particular line...well when they opened up the other extra line I guess this seemed to increase the nitrate levels in the area...ie we have tested water straight from the tap, and this water also has high nitrates]:|...and here I thought doing water changes were supposed to be good for the tank :%) not in this case, it as the cause of death --Heidi

if they stay high you may want to invest in a r/o unit

Mine were at 300, but are now down to 150...it's frustrating to say the least, but at least now we know why :%) Heidi

Ehh, sorry about that. My tap water has 0 ammonia 0 nitrites and 10nitrAtes. I dont mind about the nitrates though because my tanks nitrates run at 0 so my plants suck my tank dry of it.
