I set up one of Kitten's Java Fern Nanos]http://www.fishprofiles.com/interactive/forums/post.asp?action=topic&forum=6[/link] in a [link=Kritter Keeper]http://www.petco.com/product_info.asp?familyid=5914&sku=1083820020&tab=3&dept_id=1010&c1=1005&c2=1010&c3=&ct1=Aquariums+%26+Furniture&ct2=Bowls&ct3=[/link], which is approximately 3g. I had been reading through [link=Crazygar's White Cloud Experiment and on impulse added 2 platy fry I managed to rescue from another tank.

The setup has an airstone, but no heater, filter or light. In addition to the java fern there is a small bit of floating hornwort. Daytime temp remains steady at 75°, dropping to 74° on cooler nights. Lighting comes indirectly from a window facing southwest and room lighting during the evening. The fry are fed First Bites three times daily. There are also pest snails in the tank that I breed for my dwarf puffer.

It's a nice little setup and I'm surprised at how well it's working out. There are bunches of daughter plants on the java fern; the fry are very active and growing faster than those I have in standard tank setups.

Sounds interesting Theresa. Do you have any photos to post of the actual setup?

I would love to see some pics of that Theresa. I plan on setting up one of my 2.5 gallons with a tiny heater and a tiny Azoo filter and doing it as a live planted tank. When I finally get around to it, I will be sure to post some pics for you guys!

Lol, I'm sorry, but in your "breeding of snails", what do you do? Let them breed for two days and then hold on to and keep separated all the new snails as his food for the month? Those things put rabbits to SHAME...

PM/email/msg me if you have any questions/comments regarding me or my knowledge or if you want me to read a thread.
