is there any mental factor within the fish, if the tank is divided, and there is an aggreesive fish on one side, and there are other less agressives on the other. would the others still be scared?

the fishes in questions are cichlids.

This Really depends, I had an oscar in a 120g split down the middle and my corys wouldnt even go on that side and the devider was the only thing the pleco didnt sick on. it depend on your fish, how big how small aggresive terratoral peacful schooling, the type of fish will make the difference

my betta tank is divided like this, and 3 of my 5 bettas are highly agressive, and lucky me, the 2 peacefull ones are in between the 3 fighters, so they just stay away from the divides.

Fish tanks are an expensive addiction

how big is the tank and what are your plans with these 2 fish in the future? they should be just fine on each side of the divider. if anything you might try to add some tall driftwood or plants around the divider to break up their lines of sight. also I'd set up a cave at the ends of the tank so they are as far as possible from the divider. this way if either does feel scared, it can retreat to somewhere that it feels safe. just be aware that eventually they will probably be at the divider trying to bite each other through it.

That's a really informative post Jason. If we still had the points system I would have given you some.

Some fish can intimidate each other not only visually but also with hormone based suppression detectable in the water. If you really want to alleviate stress on the suboordinate fish , seperate it into a different tank.
