My family's first tank was a 25 with five tiger barbs, one pleco, an angelfish, and three zebra danios. Neon pink, green, and blue gravel. Still have the tank set up with other fish, and the gravel is somewhere in my garage. Anyone want it?
My first tank was a ten with one two-inch goldfish and a ton of floating anacharis when I was about ten.

My first fish were a baby brown bullhead (thought it was a tadpole it was so small) and a small minnow caught in a local stream and kept in a mason jar when I was in grade school. I was hooked the very next day when I came home from school to find that the tiny cat had managed to eat a minnow larger than itself! Next thing I knew, I had a 10 gallon, a 20, etc.

And yeah, we're talking metal frame, slate bottoms--classic stuff on those tanks.

yeah

when I was 6 or 7 , I got a 5 gal fish bowl. It had 3 gold fish, 3 neons, 2 zebras and one cory. Only gravel and an air pump. Water was changed twice a week, about 2 gals at a time. Turns out the Gold fish ate all the other fish. One of the goldfish lived about 10 months.

My first tank was a ten gallon. It had a box filter, blue gravel and glass top. It was stocked with a bala shark, an iridesent (sp?) shark, a silver tipped shark, 3 neons, a common pleco, a male betta, and 2 painted glass fish. This was all sold to me at the same time from a strict lfs that had a strict ONE FISH PER GALLON! rule and "remember to change a gallon of water every week". I thought I was the luckiest nine year old on the planet. Well before I had a chance to do my first water change eight fish were dead. My Mom was so mad she wouldn't drive me back to the fish store to exchange them because She said "it had to be from me forgetting to feed them and I had better take care of the two that were left".Well the betta and bala lived another two weeks and that was it for years. This was 22 years ago.

Uh... 1/2 gallon with my betta boy, Liberty. (Pre-FP, obviously.) He had a lil cloth plant and purple gravel to match the tank lid.

He was soon moved into a 1 gallon tank with black gravel (speckled with purple pieces) and three larger plants for him to lounge on. That tank got several makeovers and different plants, but he was happy for a long time in there. Then he moved to a two gallon where he spent most of his life with me.

My poor baby boy. He was with me over 2.5 years and just died last month.

My first tank was set up after perusing FP for a few months. It was a ten gallon given to me by a friend and house three danios to start the cycle, and then later, I added a trio of guppies. (Supposedly all females, but one was a male and... yeah...).

Thankfully, I spent my time researching before setting up a tank... and my fish thank everyone, too. No doubt I've made mistakes along the way, but I was saved from some truly bad mistakes by researching first, for the most part. Except, you know, that silly half gallon tank. However, it now serves as a nice place to raise java fern babies!

I remember my first tank. 10 gallon.... definately overstocked... but to my defence, it was all info I was told by the LFS people...

I miss some of the simplicity of it too...

What I don't remember, is the first time i replyed to one of these threads
