I personally wouldnt keep a dwarf puffer in anything smaller than a 10.

Then again I really don't think anything should be kept in anything smaller than a 10 really .

How big is this bowl?

I might try it if the bowl was at least 5g, had a heater, filter, and could be decorated with plenty of hiding places. However a 10g tank would be better since puffers do enjoy company and several people I talked to on the puffer forum said the reason mine wouldn't really eat was from being alone in a 5g tank. Unfortunately before I could find another puffer and a bigger tank my little one died. There are several fish much more suitable to a bowl and an entire thread dedicated to small tanks somewhere around here.

It will need a filter and heater, I would go with a smaller aquarium, if you desperately feel the urge to house one in a small environment.

Puffers are very vision oriented fish- personally i think the massive refraction of light and the convex surface of the bowl would drive then nuts- also they arent the best swimmers and the current in a bowl would have them spinning in circles. Add to that the territoriality and it all adds up to a recipe for disaster.

They need a square tank with not too much flow , lots of places to retreat to , about 33l for a few specimens, and preferably much larger.
