should i get this over my 10 gallon. i am looking for a small tank for a few betta smaragdina. and some cory. anyway i find it hard to think that the eclipice tank will hold more than a 10 gallon.

Before deciding look at every option. Eclipses are expensive and i wouldnt be surprised if you setup a bigger tank for the price of an Eclipse12.

Get the 10 gallon. It's a lot easier to do custom lighting and stuff with it, and also to replace a part if anything breaks.

I've got the Eclipse 12 and well... I'm glad I didn't pay for it. Got a pair of them free from someone who got out of the hobby.

However, the filter is a pain because it never wants to restart (I just LOVE ten minutes of impellor rattle at four in the morning after a power fluctuation). The hood is annoying; you have to feed plugs and cords through holes in the hood which makes it difficult to clean or put anything large into the tank. The filtration is okay... The water flows OVER the filter pad, which doesn't seem like the most effective system.

The way the hood is set up, the light is in front and the filter in back. On larger hoods, there's enough room to lift up the flap covering the filter bit and drop food down the center of the tank. On mine, if I did that, the food would stick to the hood as it fluttered downwards, because there's such a small gap. I wind up lifting up the light section to feed.

It's not a bad looking setup, and maybe having a brand new set would be better... I don't know exactly how old these tanks are. Maybe if I replaced the filter...

It IS a nice setup, despite the concerns I've made. If I had the choice, I wouldn't pay for the setup I have, though. All in all, I'm happier with my ten gallon than with the eclipse 12. That's just me, though.
