Move it a little way away from the wall. You might have it on the tack strip for the carpet. If that's not the case a strip of something like masonite under the stand should do the trick. I'd make sure it supported the stand for the entire width.

There are those who advocate letting the ammonia get pretty high because it speeds up the cycle. I'm not one of them so when it gets above 0.5ppm I do a 50% water change.

Good luck, Mike

EDIT: I assume you're in the midst of cycling. After your tank is cycled your ammonia and nitrIte should read 0.

Hi,
Iam not sure if I am understanding you properly but do you mean that the tank is sitting staight on the stand with nothing in between them?

I have always been lead to believe that you should have a piece of foam (the white stuff not the rubber type) between the tank & the stand to help distribute the weight & lessen presure points.

A friend of mine used to have a tank that was just on the stand and eventually it cracked from the bottom left hand corner to the top right hand corner = water everywhere!!!!!

Dont know if the lack of foam caused it but, in my opinion, for the sake of a couple of bucks, its better to be safe that sorry.

Cheers

my tank is on a stand and its doing the same thing...i just left it like that, it isnt causing any harm so why bother

the ammonia should be at 0 once it gets cycled but it will jump up for the first few weeks, that and nitrite levels will be high.

make sure the first few fish you get are strong, i cycled my tank with zebra danios and corys(no casualties to either) but you have other options as well

best of luck to you
