Wednesday: flakes, daphnia tetra delica, lettuce, sera tablets
Thursday: freeze dried tubifex, zuccini and algae wafer

Again I must be doing things wrong and I am sure most of FP members are also doing it wrong.

Just for interest, who wrote it and what are their qualifications/experience to make such statements also what exactly did they write.

My feeding program.
This is always done just after the tank light go on early in the morning
Other than the usual flakes, pellets and algae wafers, & frozen bloodworms three times a week there are many other also foods I use.
I mix and rotate the different types of sinking food each day when I do not feed them with the frozen Blood Worms.
The mixture is always Flakes, sinking pellets, and algae wafers broken up. With the Worms they also get the algae wafers broken up.

The different foods I use are many and varied, never at any specific time or day. All this started not long after viewing FP. I am always willing to try something different. I believe that is the reason why my fish are so healthy as they get a good variety of foods.
Heavy fishing line suspends the pear core & the fish frame. The tomato & the zucchini are held to a flat rock by an elastic band. Two small river pebbles hold down the lettuce leaf.

When feeding with the fish frame, pear core, and the lettuce I do not leave it too long, one hour at the most. I would only feed the fish frame the day before I do my 50 Lt weekly water change.
Once I found a tomato seed that had started to sprout in the internal filter I was using at the time.

Fish all fresh & uncooked
SW fish frame.
Various SW fish mashed
Prawns/Shrimp
Roe FW & SW

Meat
Raw lambs liver mashed very fine about 1/2 tea spoon.

Vegetables Cooked all mashed
Diced
Carrot.
Corn.
Peas.
Beans.
Celery.

Vegetables Raw
Lettuce.
Tomato.
Zucchini.

Fruit.
Pear core
Banana. Small pieces.

Above is correct.

A varied diet consisting of many different food sources and types/textures such as flakes + pellets + granules + tablets etc etc is the best for your fish. It simulates a more natrual environment by varying the textures/tastes. It's not like the river only has bloodworms in the am. and random bugs in the pm

Bottom line - switch it up. your fish will have better colour and be healthier the more you vary their diet.

Hi,
I have found that if I feed my fish immediately after
the lights go on, that much of it falls to the bottom.
Hence, I set the timer for 0730. I wake around 0815,
(semi-retired, you know) and walk into the fish/office
room around 0830. The fish are all at the corner of the
tank rushing back and forth waiting on me. Now when I
feed them the same amount, none of it reaches the bottom.
The second timer brings the next light on at 1000, and at
1200 I feed a second, smaller amount, and again its all
eaten before it hits the bottom. The second timer (1000)
turns off at 1400, and the lights are out at 1730 at night.
My lights are 65 watt, Compact Flourscents, on a 30G tank.
The tank is heavily planted with a bottled CO2 system.

I feed flake food, occassional frozen foods, and a piece
of zuchini one a week.

Frank
