i know that fish like iceberg lettuce. so i bought some today and left a leaf in the tank.

my question is. how much is to much? should i just feed them that? and no flakes. i dont want my fish dying because of over feeding.

they have seemed to knock off a leaf with 3 hours.

i have good filtration, so whats to much ?

Iceburg lettuce has no nutritional value. If you want to feed lettuce, go with a leaf lettuce, romaine, etc. Iceburg lettuce is pretty much water in leaf form.

I've never tried lettuce before, but I'd say no more than overnight (if you feed in the evening). Depends on how fast it goes mushy. You want to take it out before it starts to fall apart. A few hours shouldn't hurt anything. I've left cucumber and zucchini in there for a day or two to no ill effect.

You should leave it in your tank no longer than 12 hours total.
