hey people,

i know fish enjoy vegies, especially herbavous.

i have a pair of silver dollars in my tank that love chowing on peas.

my question is. how many shelled peas would be to many?
the silver dollars will eat a shelled pea in 5-10 seconds.

and would feeding vegies aid in growth?

Hi,
I've never fed peas to my fish. I assume that they
don't float. Perhaps a small clear plastic dish with
several on it and remove after say five minutes?
I feed mine zucchini. I quarter it, and feed a 2 inch
piece of a quarter once a week.
It usually stays in the tank about two days showing
some nibbles on it, and then completely
disappears, including the skin, overnight!
I rubberband it to a small rock and leave it in the
tank.

Peas are normally fed to 'unclog' a stopped up fish, if you know what I mean. I don't know if they should be fed on a regular basis or not.

Zucchini seems to be the most popular vegetable to feed fish, probably because many fish are willing to eat it. Your silver dollars may or may not like it, but you should give it a try. Attach a slice of zucchini to a vegetable clip or a rock, and leave it in the tank for a day or so. You will soon find out if your fish enjoy it!

I feed mine the cooked peas. I mash them up between my fingers and they are all gone within seconds. Use a rubber band to hold larger pieces of Fruit or Vegs I use a river stone for this purpose.

As far as too many just add more each time and watch them. Some fish can be real big food eaters. Their stomach will be tight and all the way up to their mouth and they will try to ram more down. I have seen this many times especially with SW fish.
