Would bolivian rams be ok with a school of 9 tiger barbs in a 29 gallon tank? I plan to try and have my pair breed.

Bolivan rams have nice long and tall fins, so most likely no. Tigers being one of the worst (if not, THE worst) fin nippers out of the barbs.

Bolivans, like most other cichlids, tend to be mean when breeding, so if you get them to breed, then you'll have trouble with your rams attacking your barbs.

Also, you may not get your rams to breed because of all the activity from the barbs in such a limited space.

Anyway, I wouldn't do it.

I agree!!! I won't own Tiger Barbs myself, as everytime I get them they nip and snip and attack any and everything else in the tank...They are one of my least favorite demon fish...just put the blue rams in the tank by themselves, would be interesting...and best of luck on breeding them Heidi

I agree with Brybenn. I would be more concerned about activity differences, with the barbs being too active and fast and getting all the food before the rams have a chance and stressing them out that fin nipping in a school as large as 9.
