What size tank are you looking at putting them in?

How many Gouramis are there?

Are they dwarf gouramis or larger species? Gouramis usually don't do too well together unless they're in a large enough tank that allows them to each mind their own business. Most people advise against putting 2 male dwarf gouramis together, but I had mine in a 55g, with plenty of hiding places. Now in a tank less that probably 30g, they most likely would have had some spats.

So we need to know: the size of the smaller tank, the species you have, and will the smaller tank provide lots of hiding places for them?

If you know their sex could be some vital information too.

There are several factors missing.
The variety and sex of the Gourami?
The new tank size?
With this infomation the correct answer can be given to your question.

i have:
-opaline g.
-2 blue g.
-2 kissing g.
-paradise g.
-gold g.

there all split up between a 55usg and 20usg

i have no clue on their sexes

not all will go in the tank. i was just asking if it was possible with any fish going from any large tank to any small tank.

I also have this problem as well!

I have a 4 foot tank that I have 3 Kissing gouramis in, about 15 cm each in length and 2 pearl gouramis and a few small tetras.

I have to downsize to a 2 foot tank but which is taller then most 2 foot tanks.

How do you think they will go?

I don't know the sex tho?

Well, the problem is first, the 2 kissers in the first place need bigger than a 55g tank. My uncle has 2 kissers, a mated pair, he has had for 24 years. They are each 14 inches in length and bulky too. He keeps the pair in a 85g tank thats 6 feet long and sort of pentagon shaped almost (actually a rhombus of some sort but like a stretched out pentagon.
They have no other tank companions.
It is possible for fish to adapt to new surroundings. I just dont think some of those ones are fitted to a 20g tank. In my opinion, the opalines, golds, and blues, are all also too large for a 20g tank. I think the only one really is ok in a small tank like that is the paradise fish.

My 2 Blue Dwarf's were somewhat aggressive towards each other in a 20 gal., but over the period of 3 weeks they've come to accept one anothers presence. There's still that fine line of "you come into my turf and your leaving as fast as you came!". But no huge quarrels between them. They've also accepted my one female Betta in there to.

Opaline, blue, and gold gouramis are the same species (as noted here]http://fishprofiles.com/files/profiles/bluegourami.xml[/link]), just color variants. They tend to not get along with each other. [link=Males]http://fishprofiles.com/interactive/photos/gallery.asp?id=bluegourami_profile&page=3EF546633AC341784363879BAE479B6DAD5B98B78AE53E869587AE09933B[/link] have a longer, pointed dorsal fin, and [link=females have a shorter, rounded dorsal fin, as well as a plump belly.

As mentioned, the kissing gouramis will reach a foot in length and beyond, and they're very bulky. They need a much larger tank than you have.

The paradise fish are much like bettas. Males, when kept together, have been known to kill each other once they reach maturity. I've also heard that they don't like the presence of other labyrinth fish (gouramis and bettas). Males]http://fishprofiles.com/interactive/photos/gallery.asp?id=paradise_profile&page=442A490337CB32DC3DD833F0869EA94D9E62AC5690B880ED3D889B81A7039536[/link] have longer fins and brighter colors than the [link=females.

Personally, I suggest you find your kissing gouramis a home that can accommodate them. If your blues/gold/opaline have been getting along in your 55g, I'd leave them there. Are there plenty of places to hide? As for moving them to the 20g, first of all 4 of them will overstock it, and secondly they most likely would not get along in such tight quarters. I think you should move your paradise fish to the 20g, though.
