Any thing is possible but I think you will have a very limited market. But if you include other items you will get more buyers. To do this get a few friends together and all have good house clean up.

I think you will have to count me out busy that week end and just a tad to far to travel

If you're thinking of doing it in the summer you'll need to find a way to keep the sun off the tanks. Especially if you're talking about small containers for the bettas you'll end up with fish soup (a second course following sun tea) rather quickly.
If you're serious about it I'd suggest looking for large jars that your buyers can take the fish home in, and writing up a breif care guide for each fish. Enough people seem to think that bettas can eat plant roots, and survive in a 1/2 cup of water because of those silly stands that they set up in the mall.

Babel said what concerned me the most, keeping the fishies from becoming fish soup:#(

If I remember correctly you are up in the New England states right? if so, I'm afraid that I too won't be able to show up:#(unless

I would definately keep the fish in question in the shade, and get together a little letter on proper care for the bettas...and definately make sure they have a big enough "temporary home" to be used for take home, if you don't want to dish out and have to replace the large mason jars, maybe keep them in that for the sale and then bag them

then you might even want to post it in the classifieds here on fp when the time comes i think that would work and be sure to put it in the add in the paper or greensheeet or whatever...you might be surprised how many you might sell, or we will hope...

we have one of those tenty..things its pretty much just tarp roof being held up with a system of poles but it creats shade, and i will be testing the temps and such, and be doing swap outs, i will set up care sheets and the such, and maybe a little food in a baggie forthe first few days, and im selling some betta containers too, so maybe before the sale i can go out and buy a few more and just charge extra for those?, im getting set to start seperating all of the guppies being sold, they will be jared (right now the poor things r in a 10 gallon, its getting quite crampt, but im gunna jar them and treat them for some lost fins there is a nipper in the tank and the fry tank is busting with many fry too..but if anyone is near me, feel free to stop by i could discount an extra special oe if u like]

depends what you're selling. Honestly, I wouldn't buy anything living at a yard sale. I'd just sell the bettas

uh.. do u think i sell dead bettas? just kinda struck me.. but i noticed that maybe 3 out of the bunch have ripped fins better than i thought, but they were some of the best quality but some look similar to kittens new males might just keep those or sell em for a good price (maybe 3 bucks) but if i ever ran across a lawn sale like im having... i could have a good time

that sounds like a good idea. i dont know if there is enough demand for something like that but you never know. if i were you i would just keep one betta on display and have a sign that says ask to see more bettas or something. that way you can keep them somewhere cool. good luck!

thank you Ethan

i have it all set up in my mine and the 1 betta on display sounds like a good idea, and the basement is full of stuff, so if they dont want to look at fish, there will be plenty of other stuff

Well, its only a step above pet___.
What I mean was that I wouldn't sell any fish except for bettas. I don't know what you have, but I wouldn't buy guppies from someone's backyard.
