I want to get a freshwater Baracuda and a wolf fish and some tank mates. I just want to get a tank big enough for them and some other fish. They would look so cool in a big tank.

what is the point of this thread?

but anyway, they would need a 75+ gallon, tank, and a godo tank mate to compilment those, is the flag fin tetras. they grow large, and are very colorful.

Hoplias malabaricus?
There isnt much of anything at all that will be able to survive with a wolf fish. These are a nasty fish.
You will even have to be careful that you don't get a chunk taken out of you when cleaning the tank.

Do you mean wolf cichlid( Parachromis
dovii) or Hoplias malabaricus which the common name is the freshwater wolf fish.

they would need a 75+ gallon

If wolf cichlid, 75 or similar would not be enough room and probably not enough for the hoplias malabaricus with other tank mates.

Also the tetras would be good food for the fish and not tank mates.

What is the size of tank you want?

I really do hope you don't mean Hoplias malabaricus, or even worse, the huge Hoplias lacerdae.

H. malabaricus exceeds a foot in length with ease. H. lacerdae can hit a whopping 30 inches.

If you are seriously contemplating one of these, read this article. You might change your mind when you do ...

ooo if only I had lots more space. Except Chris would probably think to tease it by sticking his fingers in the water. Little kids would be safer around those fish than him. At least they understand no and it can bite your fingers off.

Actually, a fully grown Hoplias lacerdae can take your arm off at the elbow if you're foolish enough to put temptation in its path. That thing has jaws that would be a credit to a big meat-eating dinosaur ...

This is a fish that eats piranhas in the wild for crying out loud ... eek ...

yes they are the 30 " ones. I want to put it in a tank. I know how to take care of them. They arn't that mean. They love to be watchted. they will bang on the glass at the pet stores but when some one comes up to the glass they will stop banging on the glass. They are in a 800 gallon tank at the pet store there is. In the 800 gallon tank at the pet store there is 2 wolf fish 2 freshwater baracuads 4 alagator gar at 5' long a wole bunch of feeder fish in the tank they where 1' long by them selfs. They are the coolest fish ever. I want one so bad but they cost so much and to buy the tank would be over $60,000.00 USD way to much. It is $55,000.00 USD to much. It would be way to big for my house.

thanks for the answers Riley
